Project Timeline & Tasks

Our approach includes two phases of work comprised of a total of seven tasks, between January and December of 2025

Phase 1

DATA INVENTORY/ ANALYSIS & NEEDS ASSESSMENT

(January - April)

TASK 1

Project Discovery

WHAT: Kickoff the project, collect relevant data, review previous plans, launch this website, assemble base mapping, meet with our Focus Group for the first time.

January - March

TASK 2

Engagement (Phase I)

WHAT: Facilitate roundtable chats with stakeholders, host a first community meeting, conduct a statistically-valid survey.

February - April

TASK 3

Data Collection

WHAT: Summarize what we heard from the community, conduct a demographic and recreation trends analysis, benchmark best practices related to national trends, meet with our Focus Group a second time.

March - April

Phase 2

VISIONING/ STRATEGY & DEVELOPMENT

(April - November)

TASK 4

Data Analysis & Summary of Findings

WHAT: Compare BGPR Department with peer agencies, develop a SWOT Analysis, review/edit park type classifications, review outdoor and education programming, conduct a department organizational review, look at partnerships.

April - May

TASK 5

Engagement (Phase II)

WHAT: Facilitate follow-up roundtable chats with stakeholders, host a second community meeting, host events/gatherings at BGPR Parks.

May - November

TASK 6

Draft Master Plan

TASK 7

Final Master Plans & Presentations

WHAT: Draft the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Master Plan document, outlining recommendations, summarizing the analysis conducting, and detailing the community’s vision for BGPR based on engagement results.

August - November

WHAT: Compile and edit the plan’s ideas into an understandable, highly graphic, and action-oriented document. Share with the Focus Group and the community through this website.
